Fox of Spades' Character -
Name: Xandra 'Xan' Farren
Alias: Zephyr
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Faction: Keepers of Light
Appearance:
A young woman of five feet and four inches who weighs roughly 125lbs. The girl has an an athletic build which she gained from various training sessions, and a face that isn't exactly memorable. She's rather ordinary looking, not too young or too old for her age. Xan's eyes are a mixture of blue and green and always seem to have a determined 'I'm not giving up' look to them. Xandra has long blonde hair that she almost always keeps in a braid and bangs that are swiped to the side.
The girl's regular getup consists of a plain black and loose shirt that allows her to run around freely, but due to the often windy climate in the north she often sports a blue turtleneck coat over her shirt. Metal pauldrons can be found on her shoulders and similar metallic plates cover her elbows and knees. She also wears leather gloves and boots made out of the same material.
Magic:
A formidable Wind Mage and a not-so-good Alterationist.
Xandra's power comes from the wind spirit she calls her familiar. It takes the form of a falcon and allows her to command the wind as she pleases. She is like any other mage and if she overuses her power over the wind she would easily become a demon's target. Xan's fighting style is a mix of sword fighting, unpredictable bursts of wind and random hand to hand combat taught to her by various people in the Guild. Due to her love for the sword she usually asks her familiar to fuse with her weapon, when that happens her blade becomes enchanted, but as a result she cannot command the wind without it.
When her familiar fuses with her mind Xan's sword returns to nothing but regular steel, but she herself manages to control the wind. In terms of Alteration Xan is nothing but a trainee, the most she could probably do would be turning her hand to stone or summoning a tiny ball of light the size of her fist. However, she rarely uses Alteration because it requires complete concentration which is something very hard to do in a real fight. So far she has only used her mediocre alteration skills when more experienced mages were watching.
Personality:
Outgoing and daring, do not expect Xan to beat around the bush. She's usually a social young woman who's easy to strike up a conversation with, but if she doesn't like you she won't hesitate to say it to your face or give you a dose of snide remarks. However, Xan does try her best to keep the peace and enjoys making friends here and there. She's not uptight or strict and would rather play in a meadow than listen to another one of Sienna's announcements. Xan is fun-loving and always looking for something of interest to do. She bores quickly and as a result often hops from place to place. When upset or hurt Xan will never admit it and will put on tough acts or smiles. She has her pride and hates showing any form of weakness.
In terms of quests and fights Xan is persistent, eager and too impulsive for her own good. She's not afraid to inflict pain on her enemies and fights with a headstrong attitude. Most of the time she makes plans on the spot without thinking them through, other keepers see this as a reckless approach. She does whatever seems reasonable enough and doesn't hold back. The girl is confident in her abilities but not to the point of being arrogant. She aims to win but fights fairly.
Xan's personality has been affected by the Keepers tenets. She believes in justice above mercy, self-sacrifice for her comrades, bravery in times of weakness and fairness. Ever since she was young she looked up to the Keepers and as a result the members became her role models. A fatal flaw that came along with the tenets was a need to play hero. Xan will help anyone as long as she believes their intentions are good and this need to protect people makes her act foolishly.
When it comes to her friends and family Xan prefers to be a helpful listening ear who offers advice here and there. She tries to never give away any of her negative feelings and does her best to always look calm and at ease for them. She can be a bit of a worrier and can be quite protective. The girl will always rush to their aid when they need it. Xan loves a good joke here and there and a nice dose of foolish nonsense and optimistic ideas. She's more of a realist, so she enjoys people who see the world as something kinder than it is and likes people who managed to lighten up the mood.
Biography:
The only child of two Keepers, who were skilled mages and members of the circle. Xan's childhood consisted of tales of bravery and magic, training, tagging along with her parents and bugging the older Keepers whenever her parents were out on missions. She'd also pass the time by playing with the other kids who lived with their parents in the Keep. Seeing the guild members help around and hone their skills lead to Xan adoring them even though she was just a child. Xan enjoyed life at the keep and thought it was pretty good. In fact, she saw the guild as indestructible.
However, that view changed. One day both her parents were sent on a dangerous quest. While the others were killed her parent's corpses were never found. After that incident the Keepers took her under their wing. She was fourteen back then and the Keepers had become the only family she had left. Xan became even more strong-willed and determined than she was before. The girl would run off on her own and train till her body was sore, practicing all the sword moves her dad had ever taught her. This was when a mischievous wind spirit noticed her. The spirit would send strong gusts of wind to knock her flat on her face whenever she tried to train and would do anything to mock the girl. Xan was annoyed and chased after the spirit, it would knock her down countless times but she'd get back on her feet and follow it. It continued for a long time with Xan falling and just getting up again The spirit tried a stronger breeze and this time it sent the girl skidding back and slamming into a tree. Xan, who had felt completely helpless at that time due to being unable to go after her parents, unable to officially join the Keepers and unable to do anything significant began chasing the spirit with stifled sobs, she cried and cursed her own uselessness but never stopped running after it.
Eventually the spirit came to respect her determination, it landed and offered to be her familiar. It was a free spirited falcon and it had taken a liking to the fourteen year old girl. Xan and the wind familiar formed a pact and as a result the girl became a wind mage. When the keepers noticed this they began to train her in magic and eventually she began showing potential. By the time she was sixteen she was sent on a quest for her initiation test. The girl passed and became an official member of the Keepers. She became a part of their family but her main goal remained the same as the years marched on. She wished to one day travel into Templar territory and get proof on whether her parents were truly dead or alive like she had always hoped.
Extras:
- Xan tries her best to believe her parents are out there. She trains her hardest, because one day she wants to head west and go look for them.
- She can't make illusions at all, even when it's to save her life.
- The girl knows about Lucciola because of her parents but has never thought of joining them. She'd rather fight someone head on than kill them sneakily.
- Her wind spirit likes to go by Sylph and he resides in the blue amulet that she keeps tucked in her coat.
- She prefers to go by Xan and never introduces herself as Xandra.

Sobriquet's Character -
Name: Wiltran (Will) Lieven
Age: 12
Gender: Male
Faction: Keepers
Appearance:
Will is always seen with a mischievous glint in his brown eyes and an easy smile. He has unkempt brown hair that always seems to get shaggy even after a thorough shower; a trait inherited from his father. Despite standing as tall as most people’s waists with a somewhat chubby face and body, he looks somewhat more mature than other twelve year olds. Unlike his mother, he is almost always seen in brightly colored clothing with yellow being his favorite.
He wears a sapphire shard tied around his neck by metal string. It’s a special amulet acquired from some alchemists that allows people wearing its other pieces to know the direction of where the other pieces are. Whenever Will focuses on it, two points come to mind: one is his mom who is constantly on the move administrating the Keepers, and the other has been pointing to a hidden place in the Keep and has not moved for six years.
Magic:
He has inherited his mother’s considerable talent over the water elements and is an apprentice water mage. He has a water familiar of his own which he calls Whiskers because its natural form is that of a catfish made of silvery blue lines. He found Whiskers in the waterfall within Sienna’s keep and tamed it unintentionally. The familiar lives in a specially made clear bracelet that stores water, though Will always releases it whenever a large pool is present. The familiar is a cheeky little thing that likes to splash around and play with Will. Whenever the familiar is fused with Will, he feels extremely energetic (well, moreso than his usual self anyway) and often makes hasty decisions.
What spells can he cast with the familiar? Well, he’s not much of a mage, being as young as he is. He can secrete a really sticky substance with water (perfect for pranks on the guards) and conversely he can make really slimy liquid as well. He can ‘make’ some water from condensation, but not much and he can’t move large amounts of water either. He can also make small parts of his body and clothes turn into water with alteration, though the first time he did this he almost lost his hand and Sienna had to watercraft it back on him (honestly the more scary part of this ordeal was the five hour sit-down he had with his mother after)
Personality:
Goofy and eccentric; cheeky and dramatic. He is extremely unruly and mischievous; a product of his upbringing. His mouth is constantly getting him into trouble because he has no idea of when to shut up and he has no respect of his seniors either. He will say the darnedest things in the darnedest situations and he makes it a point to make a big spectacle of himself wherever he goes. In fact, the scarier the thing he faces is, the more likely he’ll go into ‘insult everything’ mode as a coping mechanism.
Despite a cheerful attitude, he can be quite callous and insensitive when talking about other people. He cares for others, but he doesn’t have much experience with social interaction and as such can miss certain social cues. He longs for adventure and has been making plans to get out of the keep to explore. He loves his mother more than anything in the world, but he wishes a degree of freedom that she refuses to give him.
Biography:
Being the only son of Arch-mage Sienna, Wiltran was always treated with a ton of attention from his parents. He was a problem child from the start though; always wanting more attention and never concentrating on anything.
The day after his father died and after his mother slept, he took off in the middle of the night. He went to find the place where he and his family would picnic in the gigantic garden of the keep. There his tears and cries went unheard while the waterfall roared in the background. His tears fell in the river and a shimmering blue spirit in the form of a catfish seemed curious as to what the disturbance was and swam in the waters where tears wet the river. Will noticed it and his crying ceased. Then the spirit sung a tune as though to soothe the child. It was sweeter than any siren song humans could describe. Though Will only cried harder after it started singing, at least now he didn’t feel so lonely. He cried and cried until he couldn’t remember where the tears ended and sleep began. He could only remember the tune.
He woke up in his bed the next morning after his mother carried him there. It was the only time that she didn’t berate him for disappearing without warning. A few days later, he returned to the riverside again. He saw the catfish swimming furiously around but when he approached it the catfish splashed water on him and swam into the depths of the river. He called for it and some of his tears splashed on the water; called forth by the bittersweet memories of picnics he had, but the catfish did not return. He tried again a few more days later and got the same result.
Then he came up with a plan. He returned and instead of approaching the catfish, he sang the tune that had been burned into his mind since the last night. His voice cracked and broke as memories threatened to surface but he persevered. The catfish seemed to slow its movements and halfway through it stopped as though mesmerized by the boy’s poor reproduction of its song. Then it sung, and even the waterfall stopped its roaring to hear the spirit’s voice. He approached the spirit slowly and this time it didn’t swim to the depths of the river, but it became silent. It waited for Will to finish the rest.
For two years he did this with the spirit. Whenever there was a dreaded history tutorial he would be with the catfish – which he dubbed Whiskers – singing his heart out. It got to the point where Sienna discretely followed the boy one day. To her surprise she discovered that Will had bonded with the spirit of the lake. It wasn't a bond made out of any one moment, but rather one forged by time much like how streams slowly widen into rivers. Despite bonding at such a young age, he was given only lessons on how to *not* use magic for a while because of his young age and Sienna's unwillingness to let any more accidents happen to her family members.
He has been kept under very tight supervision after his father died because he is Sienna’s only family member left. He loathes being locked in for so long of his life and only being able to practice even the simplest magic with his mother or another experienced mage around when other kids get to play in the snow with magic. Despite Sienna’s attempts to hide his dad’s statue from him by putting it in the secret labyrinthian tunnels of the keep grounds, he was still able to find it anyway due to the sapphire necklace. Sometimes he visits his dad to talk to him and inform him of how everything’s going.
Extra:
-He sings really well and has memorized many poems about Azurith.
Age: 12
Gender: Male
Faction: Keepers

Pyrozblasts' Character -
Name: Olosez the Devourer
Alias: Zander Blackburn
Age: Looks like he is in his mid-twenties but his actual age is unknown.
Gender: Male
Faction: He does not belong to a faction but hides in the Keeper of Light’s to consume everyone equally and to make himself more powerful with each person he devours.
Magic:
Olosez has all the powers that a demon of his type has, that type being an Ethereal Demon, one of the oldest and most powerful demons to live. At first Olosez was only a minor demon until he found out that eating others like him and humans with magical powers was the only way to increase his power to what he is now. Even though he just recently became an Ethereal Demon, Olosez is not as powerful as one just yet. Due to him being an Ethereal Demon, Olosez has selective immortality and can only be killed when his “Heart” is destroyed.
First and for most, Olosez has the enact powers of darkness manipulation and pyrokinesis. These two allow him to make dark version of his fire and control the shadows around but only if he taps into his demon mana. Another of his powers is when he devours a person; he gains a small amount of power from that person. More power the person has, the more Olosez gains to his demon mana pool.
Upon consuming a Keeper of Light, Olosez was able to disguise himself as a human that he had already devoured in the last three months. None of those forms were anywhere close to his current disguise. In fact he had to hunt this disguise down before being able to use it to his will. In his disguise, Olosez is a mage of all aspects and is able to tap into his enact fire at whim without the use of a spirit but acts like he has one. The medium for this exchange is the sword that he carries with him everywhere.
Personality:
As a demon, Olosez is a cold and calculating person. He plans his attacks down to the second, place, and even the way that they die. Normally he attacks people that are in the middle of their missions depending how high the rank is. He also leaves mangled corpses in the forest or alley ways for people to find causing the person to find the corpse to be his next target. In disguise, Olosez is calm and intelligent. He rarely, if ever, shows any form of distress other than mild irritation. With that being, he is one of the calmest people that you can ever meet except when no one is around him, he personality reverts back to his demon side and instantly places his human side once someone comes around him.
Biography:
Born from the darkest pits of the Neverworld mixed with the hellish fires that only demons can withstand. Olosez was one of the demons that came out of the rift many years ago. He caused chaos wherever he went until a powerful demon came through the rift and toke over what he was doing. Once that demon was sealed away, Olosez went into hiding for many years. During that time, roughly two people would disappear a month throughout the land. It was only until the Keepers found a blood trail leading into the forest that they found a pile of mangled bodies with teeth marks gouged in them.
Many years later, Olosez walked in the Keepers main city disguised as one of them. He played that he was badly wounded and was attacked by a demon that he knew not the name of. All he knew was that the demon had attacked him for no reason. Since then, Olosez has been using the name Zander Blackburn, the original name of his victim, and lived right under the nose of Arch-Mage Sienna and the sub-leader.
Extra:
-Olosez’s “Heart” is a small crystal that must be destroyed to kill him completely. The crystal is hidden on his body and only he knows the location of it in both his demon and human forms. No normal way to kill someone will work on him as long as the crystal still remains intact. Also he thinks that The Throne is Really Uncomfortable.

Kathi-chan's Character -
Name: Aria Corvus
Alias: Blackbird
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Faction: Keepers of Light [Sub Faction: Lucciola]
Magic: Aria is a skilled user of both alteration and illusion. A more powerful illusionist than an alterationist, she can make opponents believe that the floor has collapsed, that meteors are raining from the sky or even that their own bodies are rotting away. This power is strictly limited by the fact that it whittles away at one’s sanity and therefore she rarely uses powerful illusions for long periods of time. As one of the Circle, she possesses a Soul Gem that houses a mist elemental in the form of a mongoose.
Personality: As leader of the Lucciola, Aria is a good judge of character and understands how to read the intents of others while hiding her own. Being in her position, she cannot fully trust those around her in case they were to betray or leak guild secrets since she would have to be the one to deal with them. Still, she enjoys the company of the members of the guild and can be found often teasing the younger members. Aria has little respect for members of higher authority unless they have earned it and is greatly disliking and flippant of people who believe themselves above others with no reason to do so. She’s also quite the cheerful pessimist- when facing down death she’s more likely to discuss her funeral plans than worrying about how to get out of the situation.
Biography:
With both parents as Keepers, it’s no wonder that Aria was introduced to the guild at a young age. Though she wasn't officially a member, the child lived within the Keeper’s headquarters with her parents and became very close to the second in command of the guild, a warm-hearted and skilled individual who became a role model to her. As her parents were often out on missions he ended up serving as a stand in guardian in spite of being rather busy himself, and it was during this period that Aria took up interest in the violin which was the sub-leader’s instrument of choice. She started showing signs of being skilled in illusionary techniques and became a student of sorts under him despite her very young age. Although she did not know it herself, it was suspected among the Lucciola that the sub-guild leader had seen some natural talent within her and was priming her to become the next leader after him. As the years went on however, it became increasingly obvious that the sub-leader’s mental health was deteriorating fast from the overuse of illusions. Still, everything seemed fine until one day he disappeared and a few days later the Templar leader was said to have been killed most likely by his hands.
Aria was only eight when the incident happened but was able to comprehend some of the situation. She continued to study hard under the Keepers and eleven years later she had been not only initiated into the guild but accepted into the Lucciola as well which had a new leader by then. The previous leader had continued to evade them and caused trouble and wreaked havoc in many parts of the land, further sullying the name of Lucciola. Aria asked to be assigned to the mission of tracking him down and though there was little protest permission was granted and after a year she managed to find him. It wasn't too hard a battle as the ex-sub-guild leader was nothing more than a shell of his former self but seeing the state that the person she had looked up to from a young age was in was mentally jarring and greatly increased Aria’s caution in using any illusionary magic from then.
She returned to the guild and one year later the sub-guild leader was killed on a mission, leading to her being chosen as the next head.
Extra:
- Has a pretty bad sense of time and will often be late to meetings or appointments
- Bad with names. To remedy this she will give nicknames instead.
- Her parents retired from the Keepers right after she became head of the Lucciola and now runs a small flower shop within the city
- Believes the guild should get a new throne as the current one is really uncomfortable.
- She possesses a long kiseru pipe bought from a family of travelling alchemists. It differs from most pipes in that it creates pink smoke that can be molded by the mind into all manners animals and shapes.

LuckyEsper's Character -
Name: Lute Aiseirigh
Alias: Orpheus
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Faction: Keepers of Light, Lucciola
Magic:
As one who has bonded with a spirit of sound, Lute can stay the whispers of both human and animal. He can cause absolute silence or piercing noise in an environment but the former is what he usually enforces during his missions. His familiar took the form of a faceless female ghost which constantly hovers around Lute’s shoulders when released from its soul gem.
His power is not entirely the creation of new sound to replace the old, but the transformation of what is to become another. It has limits, though—Lute’s assaults work extraordinarily well in closed spaces, but he can’t project a sound wave more than a few meters from his body in open space. The impact also lessens the further it is from Lute’s personage, with the exception of a concentrated attack. He switches from resonance to melee attack frequently, and he is skilled with the sword as much as he is with his magery.
Lute uses this power purely as a mood maker in the guild. Wherever he goes, people always seem to hear the softest and most tranquil of music, thus being eased from their problems even for a short while. He also works as a noise moderator in case a few of the younger Keepers whip up a racket—The punishment for the unruly ones is often a stay inside a room so devoid of sound, one felt as if immense weight was pushed against his or her eardrums.
When fused with his familiar, Lute's state of mind turns more erratic. He easily gets swayed from his decisions and will confuse people with his wishy-washy temperament.
Personality:
Lute is commonly described as a “mild” person. Although he rarely speaks, the man is quick to smile upon anyone who greets or happens to pass by him. He doesn’t side with anyone whenever there is a squabble and is most often the one who makes either side put away their differences to be friends again—That is, if his soothing lullabies failed to work first.
He was accepted into the guild at the age of sixteen. Unfailingly pleasant and discreet, Lute was quickly noted by his superiors in the guild and was duly handed confidential missions. His consecutive successes with his assignments assured a quick rise through the ranks, and this also made him popular with the wrong crowd. For some time he had to deal with spiteful whispers and sarcastic comments—Not everyone obeyed the Keeper tenet of smiles and love for one another, you know. In any event, his natural likeability won them over after a few months.
Lute gets extremely defensive when the topic is his beautiful sister, Ruana, who works as a shopkeeper in the city. He resists the idea of suitors vying for his sister’s hand with the bravado of a desperate child—It is almost funny to see the naturally calm Lute in a rage after “accidentally” reading a love letter meant for Ruana. Asides from that, Lute doesn’t seem to grasp the concept of romance so flirting is lost on him.
Biography:
When he woke up, he was lying down on the floor, small lass by his side. A fire was slowly dying in the hearth, and the barren cottage was dreary even without the effect of winter that turned everything miserable. The girl was Lute’s one and only sister, and he woke up with a bump on the back of his head after a long battle with his father. It was no question who won—Anyone, especially an eight-year-old child, was sure to faint after he got throttled and hit on the head with a plank. After a few minutes of useless sniffling and trying to ease the throbbing in his head, the boy grinned at his sister and then stood up from the floor. “Well, I have to look for a job, Ruana!” He declared confidently, as if their father didn’t leave them, two children who weren’t even at the age of ten, for another woman, as if it was easy to find work amidst a town of peasants and thugs, as if it was no trifle to live when you have nobody on your side.
Since he was a natural virtuoso, the boy took to performing in the streets with his little lute. Though the income was almost nonexistent, it still was a good addition to the meager allowance he received by drifting in and out of various jobs. As time passed, Lute became better at his trade to the point that he was talked of—That was when a sound spirit grew attracted to the music coming from an extremely ugly cottage. It drifted around Lute’s home for days, listening to the animated conversations the boy had with his sickly sister, and the spirit slowly grew to marvel at his resilience despite everything that had happened. It warmed to the thought of spending time with such an interesting human but was troubled how it could approach the boy, seeing that sound doesn’t take any concrete form.
A few months later, Lute was strumming a ballad when a banshee suddenly appeared from within his instrument. Shocked, he dropped the lute and was about to run away when the creature shrank. Yes, it was faceless and the open mouth was very creepy, but even a banshee was sort of cute at a small size. Lute was about to touch it when the spirit suddenly disappeared. He noticed that it would only appear whenever he did a specific song and would often play it just to see the creature. Before long the two developed a friendship of sorts. When he trained with the Keepers, it was the perfect reason to finally be one with his companion.
Extra:
- He calls his familiar “Delilah”, or “Dellie” for short. If it wasn’t Lute who called it by the nickname, expect a shrill scream that could make your ears erupt.
- Lute enjoys cooking and is often in the guild kitchen whipping up dishes and dishes of wonderful food.

Tytus' Character
Name: Basil Shieste
Alias: There are many. None can be traced back to him, either way.
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Faction: Keepers of Light, Lucciola
Appearance:
Basil's eyes are dual moons; pale blue, only opened to the arms of the night. His hair is but a few naturally-brushed pieces of grey silk, a single piece curled out into a bowing cowlick. The rest of his attire is as dark as necessity would allow it: shadow grays, starkly silhouetted blacks, and small folds of white. His left pectoral is burned with the scar of Lucciola's title, etched into his skin as if by needle; but really, it was by flame. He wears a black necklace around his collarbones, simple and plain - but tucked into his shirt. The rest of the accessory is a beautiful phosphorescent amulet of a certain cerulean blue. Its glow is nonexistent beneath the rays of daylight, but come night its shine is brighter and more attractive than perhaps some stars themselves. Obviously, this piece of jewel is tucked away, for risk of impeding Basil's work.
Magic:
Basil's forte lies within the pursuit of creating illusions; he is adept at weaving mysteries and making completely different situations occur. Basil's only combat strength stems from the use of two stilettos he keeps tipped away under his sleeves - his main focus is not combat, after all. He can use illusions to trick people in ways that brings him what he desires and needs. Basil's illusions work differently than others': He sets up a planned situation (a trap, if you will) for someone to fall into. He then begins to slowly, transitionally, weave lies and alterations into their reality - a feat he uses for thievery and cons. An example:
The woodcutter smiled as he parked himself against the wooden seat before him, staring confidently at the strange man across the table. The man's own smile was penetrating and calculative, but well, how harmful could he be? He was young.
The man before him folded a deck of cards with only his left hand, holding one that was of Sienna outward with his right for the woodcutter to see. His eyes remained focused on the woodcutter. "Which card am I holding up?" He asked.
"That's easy," Replied the burly cutter. "Our Keeper of Light. Sienna."
"Look again."
The woodcutter did. In the dealer's hand was the paper blue card of Urius the Forsworn; god of the Dragonkin. The woodcutter stood up angrily, throwing his chair against the dirt. "You cheating bastard!" He ran, a hulking and tanned mass in a confined space, toward the... female merchant? He stopped, realizing that before him was not the card-dealer at all, but a young damsel with golden hair that stretched past her waist.
Basil walked down the cobblestone path toward his headquarters with extra coin in his pocket.
Personality:
Basil is a remarkably quiet man. He is never seen, never heard, never even so much as smelled: he has the uncanny knack for appearing and reappearing at will, which often startles some of his companions, while angering others. When he does appear, he is in the shadows, faded with it like the camouflage of a lizard. When he speaks, it is usually because he disagrees with something, and feels he has to make his mind clear. He's generally analytical, but even someone such as he can fall privy to human emotions and weaknesses. When Basil is alone, however, he is far less suspicious. He will openly talk and voice his opinions, and will shyly let slip his love for romantic poetry and prose: this can be seen when he is alone with another, as he tends to ramble then. His favorite book is The Orchard's Love Court.
Biography:
Basil was four when he witnessed his first hanging.
His mother stood on the wooden planks of the gallows unflinchingly. She met the cold stares of the jubilant crowd head-on, not bowing to their whims, and smiled at her son with the deep sincerity that could only be seen on the face of a parent. Basil watched her blue eyes (he had gotten them from her) turn to a pale white as the noose tugged away at her life and held her in the air, feet dangling. He watched as she tried to stay brave, but inevitably broke and gurgled in a need for air, while clawing wildly at the skies. He watched as marks from the rope appeared against her neck in burning reds, and watched as her tongue arced through the clouds and landed in the crowd.
Basil had since then spent his days sleeping in a hidden room within the library of Lucciola, reading all of the books on Illusionism he could find in a weird attempt at coping with his loss. As he grew older and his youth faded into adolescence, Basil began using his Illusions on the streets. He would collect a large crowd by any means he could, and after they had gathered, would showcase the extraordinary. He would create dancing lights that resembled lightning bugs, make the audience look down at the dirt beneath their feet and instead see a grassland with grazing beasts. He pretended it was real magic, and not just scenes he painted in their heads. Of course, the palpably stupid. In the end, Lucciola was sent after him to investigate into the "Renegade Mage".
When they found out he had been living in their very own library, in addition to his illusionary feats, it was with more astonishment than anger that they led him into their small group. He now serves them willingly, considering but never admitting them a family. Basil has since changed, using his illusions only in heists and assassinations. He only goes out for his tasks after dark, with the exception of traveling, and no longer practices the artistic splendor of his magic as he used to.
Extra:
With him, often perched atop his head like a mighty fire-breathing dragon, is a bird named Pal. He resembles a crow, only he is snow-white and has long, feathery-blue wings. He treats everybody but Basil with the utmost scorn; Notte is often seen chasing him around the Lucciola headquarters. When angered, the bird actually has ridiculously sharp teeth than can tear through flesh like a cheese grater, and talons sharper than some alchemist's forged blades.

Naiko's Character -
Name: Cherise Yanev, Cheri for short.
Alias: N/A
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Faction: Keepers of Light, Lucciola
Magic: Cheri specialty is illusions. From a young age she grew up creating wondrous and vivid illusions of creatures and scenery for her brother and herself to enjoy. Later on she learned minor alteration magic from her mother and has since become good at it but by no means an expert. She is aware of the risks of altering reality and never rushes this sort of magic. Her last magic is from a tome she read when she was younger. The tomb allowed her to see into the memories of others. Since her acquisition of this magic she devoted herself to blending the three into a workable practice.
With her mastery as an illusionist Cheri is able to replace a memory with a very convincing fabrication. This fabrication only works on the weak minded or willing though, so if a soul does not wish to forget something from the bottom of their heart their feelings will interfere with them believing a fabricated memory. With the tombs ability she is able mentally connect to another person’s specific memory and with the alteration she takes the memory onto herself and alters their mind with the illusion. This side practice cannot convince everyone, and Cheri uses it to relieve generally the civilian public from any traumatic memories they hold onto.
Outwardly Cheri is viewed as a strong illusionist, with a small capacity for alteration magic that she seldom uses. Her ability to alter memories is kept for the most part under wraps and only a few know, like the leader of the Keepers of Light, that she is capable of such a thing. To the others in her faction she appears fairly normal. She has surprising resilience to using illusions but is still going mad, just not as quickly as some might expect for the caliber of illusions she can create. Her brother suspects that had she grown up among the keepers of light and walked the path of a proper mage, her element would have been light which can be efficiently bent through the smoke and mirrors one might expect of illusions. For this reason he has always assumed his sister’s illusions were very efficient and he primarily blames the tome for her growing madness, no matter how weak a tome it was.
Personality:
Cheri is fairly average girl with a bubbly personality. At times she comes off as a bit quiet because she hesitates to immediately warm up to people. This is mainly because her brother has warned her to keep most people outside the faction at an arms length. She goes to great lengths to hide when she is upset or sad but is not very good at it. More often than not falling into silence is all she can do to stifle tears or frustration or anger. Patience is one of Cheri’s most notable personality traits as it takes a lot of patience to deal with someone who is hurt or troubled and Cheri herself seldom gets angry. When she gets comfortable around people she is more adept at being bold and curious. Her curiosity has gotten her into trouble before but it’s a personality trait she acknowledges and tries to subdue so her brother doesn’t worry as much.
When Cheri isn’t her usual bubbly personality she is usually troubled. As her memories become more and more muddled by her magic she suffers from a lot of confusion and bouts of just spacing off, lost in thought. At times people within the keepers of light may pass a seemingly empty hall to spot a glimpse of the girl crying before she dries her tears and carries on. Even among people, the strain of keeping a portion of her magic a secret, along with all the troubles that come with it, causes her substantial loneliness and sadness. As things progress she very well may be taking to the rumors of illusionists who have gone mad, though she will likely go mad, not from anger or gluttony for power, but sorrow.
Cheri reaps a lot of joy from interacting with those in her faction and maintains a pleasant facade for the sake of not being outcasted by some who might think her magic could be used maliciously.
Biography:
Cherise was born in the Northern Province with her brother and so her parents raised her with many of the ideals of the Keepers of Light as a growing child. When she was two her family moved to the Eastern Province in search of a tome they had been researching for a number of years. She grew up primarily playing with her brother but Freyr became like a second older brother to her after they moved. The three of them spent a lot of time together as kids until Freyr went off to meet his pact creature. He had promised to come back but before he could Cheri’s parents stumbled upon the tome. Her parents only mentioned their findings to a few close friends but it seems even that was not safe enough. Cheri had been learning how to read ancient scripts by her father from a young age, and she excelled in it where her brother did not. She found the tome out in her father’s work shop one night when she was having trouble sleeping and began to read it. For a short time this became habit until she finished one night, falling asleep in her father’s chair. She awoke to a loud crash and startled she knocked over the candle that illuminated the room when she left.
Confused by the illusions that mingled about the room she barely found her brother among the crashing of objects and shattering of glass. The fire growing from the study destroyed her father’s research along with the tome and in the chaos the children escaped to the woods. A pair of figures escaped the burning house but neither were the children’s parents. Her brother, who better understood at the time what the tome’s value was marked the figures as thieves though he was powerless to stop them. The two children found refuge in a neighboring home after the fire, though it was not Freyr’s. Her older brother sent a letter back to their parent’s homeland in the North and they spent the next few years there.
Over those years Cheri worked to live up to her parent’s ideals of wanting to help others. She focused her magic on taking away the traumatic memories of civilians living in the north but with a substantial toll on herself. It is clear that she is sacrificing her own mind to continue to help people and has since been left in the care of the Keepers of Light faction.
Cheri found her way into Lucciola by following the cat in. It’s rumored the head of Lucciola came among their ranks in a similar fashion but Cheri is none the wiser, she just though the cat was cute. Luckily her brother did attempt to teach her some hand to hand combat when they were younger, so she manages well enough in the sub-faction, but it is not her strong suit and she is still practicing here and there to improve.
Extra:
-Her brother is trying to find a way to do away with the magic of the tome that’s harming her however he has yet to tell her because she wants to help people. He has mainly told her to keep that magic secret so society there does not outcast her.
-Both children have learned a blend of ideals from both the Northern and Eastern Provinces though Cheri has some loyalty to the Keepers of Light faction since her coming to it. She is also more accepted by the faction because of her skills as a mage, though her brother is considerably more shunned for his lack of magic and his distance from being in a faction.
-The tome Cheri’s parents found when she was young was indeed a rare find but what many did not know was that it was a rather weak tome, only allowing insight into the memories of the willing with likely strong repercussions for trying to extract a memory from someone who did not give it freely. Had this been well known and discovered it would probably not have been valued as highly and their parents lives may have been spared.
-Cheri can play the piano, but not well. Freyr tried to teach her when she was younger but she only remembers how to play a few simple songs. For the most part she hums, too shy to sing but too distracted at times to even realize she’s humming. It has become a rather terrible habit she buries when working.
-She has shown interest in learning how to play the violin from Aria, because she is charmed by the effect music can have on people, but her success is yet to be measured as she learns. She could be considered an apprentice violinist to Aria.
-Cheri finds that the throne is really uncomfortable and prefers nicer more honest places to hunker down in.
Alias: N/A

Sayu's Character -
Name: Lucifer Reagle
Alias: “I do not hide in the darkness, I lay myself bare to the light and all who are in it”
Age: 12
Gender: Male
Fraction: The Keepers of Light
Appearance: Lucifer is roughly 4 ft 11(148 cm), with a small frame due to malnutrition in his childhood. Along his body he is covered in numerous faded scars, his skin is a rather average color but tends to be more rosy or pink with his cheeks easily flushing. He has medium length hair, ending around the bottom of his ears with quite a lot covering his forehead with several strands coming into his dark blue eyes. His hair is black with blue hints to it. He has a small face that reveals his young age despite his distant gaze and calmness; he carries himself very well in most situations but when caught off guard reveals much through his body language and lack of eye contact.
He typically wears a deep maroon jacket that usually appears more to be black then red, seeming only tinted with the shade at most times. The jacket is not form fitted and is made for him to grow more into opposed to being practical in a fight What he wears under the jacket typical reflects the seasons and weather. He wears dark brown pants, once again not made for fighting and more comfort. He rarely leaves without his most treasured possession, given to him when he was first recognized as an oracle and subsequently joined the guild - a rather ordinary scarf. The scarf is long, made from soft thick materials that do not resemble wool. It is a rusty red color, reminding one of autumn when they gaze at it. On the end of the right side it was stitched in a detailed image of the Keeper’s insignia – a silver sword in front of a golden sun.
(Yes, the kid in blue wears mostly autumn based colors...deal with it)
Magic: He is an apprentice at alteration, he is rather talented at the dangerous art naturally able to focus on a single thought or idea though it isn’t perfect and he still requires further training. He has also dappled in illusions and though can create them they’re just barely passable, he’s mediocre at best. He is generally guarded at all times though he carries a dagger with him.
Personality: Lucifer is rather odd for his age, he is not energetic nor does he get into trouble(unless a certain water mage is around)…generally he seems to be so calm one might confuse him for not entirely there – a blank distant expression usually upon his face would lead one to believe he was never listening, off with the fairies. In truth he is always listening & watching, to everything and everyone. He is calm and is usually quiet unless the situation calls for him to speak though he has “episodes” as one may call them where he will question a person to the point it seems like an interrogation – he enjoys collecting knowledge and reading the books known as people, learning about them and their morals, topics one might call controversial he shows the most enjoyment talking about. On all subjects nearly he shows no opinion or standing, switching between sides with his comments, he generally tries and does see both sides to an argument and will stay mostly neutral. He changes sides depending on what the person or people he is talking to say, finding the loop holes and failure of logic or incorrect facts and bringing them to the light.
He generally doesn’t show emotions like anger, and other emotions like sadness most do not see as he will hide away during such periods or hold back the tears as best as he can. He is generally seen as just very curious. It generally takes a lot to frustrate or embarrass him but if you can find the buttons he will act out, situations and topics he finds uncomfortable causing him to typically stutter and lose his calm demeanor. If one continues on such a topic or finds something that leads him straight to anger he will raise his otherwise soft voice to a near yell and if pushed far enough will throw a tantrum. His easiest button to push is the fact he hates being touched in any possible way and people who refuse to give him personal space will encounter with his more emotional side.
Biography:
Lucifer lost his parents’ at a young age and lived in a no name village on the edge of the Keeper’s territory, with no parents the village generally had to take care of him but instead of creating some giant family for the child he became resented. A burden to everyone he was an outcast, the only reason he was not left to die of starvation was because of who his parents had been – high ranking and generally loved.
As he turned 6 years old the boy out casted himself more, he began to often tell things to the elders – vague statements foretelling events, at first brushed aside it soon dawned on everyone each and every one of his prophecies came true. This caused more tension within the community; people became suspicious of him and avoided him afraid he’d open his mouth to speak their ill fortunate. Instead of thought to be blessed by Azurith, they feared he had acquired some arcane magic or even a curse – that instead of foretelling events he was the cause of them.
It escalated to the point some people wished him dead but at that time a member of the Keepers came through, returning from a mission involving escorting some to the crusader’s land he decided to visit this otherwise normal village due to the spreading rumors of a strange child. After a month he made up his mind, taking Lucifer with him back to Azurith’s keep for Sienna to judge.
Since then he has lived in the Keep as the oracle, he has been trained by the Keepers and is generally guarded 24/7.
Extra:
- He believes the throne is be very uncomfortable and would prefer to have his usual seat.
- Is generally called “Lucy’ by Aria and several others, it’s become an unwanted (but not hated) nickname for the boy.
- Lucifer once threatened to turn Aria Corvus into a cat after a specific incident involving him, her and a dress.
- He hates others seeing him nude or anything even similar, mostly because he is incredibly shy about such matters.
- His “no touch” rule steams from his childhood, he associates touch with pain and with it people getting into his personal space.

Wind Wild's Character -
Name: Oliver O’Dara
Alias: Ropewalker, though that alias will never leave the domains of his own mind.
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Faction: Keepers of the Light
Appearance: (picture is subject of possible future change)
Oliver is a handsome young man, one sure to catch the eye with his deep auburn hair, bright green eyes and perfect build. The features almost seem too perfect to be true, making him look close to artificial and causing some to assume he’s actually a skilled illusionist. Despite the unsettling feeling one might get at first they would be soon made to forget about it as Oliver only lets his appearance shine when it suits him and generally tends to disregard it among friends (his definition of friend is anyone who’s sticking around for more than an hour). He is well dressed and just as well-mannered but once he makes the good first impression is likely to ruffle his hair and stop brushing it for a while.
Magic: Due to his past experience Oliver is too scared of being possessed to use his magic. He has a pact with a spirit but not one of his friends and acquaintances has ever seen it being used. For the larger part Oliver seems to prefer doing administrative work and not get involved in physical conflicts but that’s not to say he shies away from a fight. His constant encounters with the brothers and fathers of his many lovers make sure to keep him fit and have caused him to develop an unhealthy itch to get into a fight should he go long without one. On a more official level however he tries to avoid using violence where he could achieve his goals with money and words instead.
He is a very good fighter, focusing on speed and agility rather than brute strength. His slim build and lithe movements combined with his cunning mind assure for victory, be it through direct combat or assault. He’s very dexterous and finds it almost natural to create or fix things, a skill he uses all the way from making fishing poles to constructing traps.
Personality:
Despite his traumatic past Oliver is a bright and cheerful guy and one would never assume without explicitly asking, what he’s been through. What meets the eye is a confident and loyal young man who is extremely curious and friendly, if not a little too care-free. He’s honest and doesn’t get offended easily. He doesn’t hide his roots but for the most part keeps the story short and bleak, unwilling to ruin anyone’s mood with a story that is in no way unique. The ones who know it could spot the scars it left on his personality but most others would assume them to be just little quirks.
Oliver is pedantic about everything he does, checking ever so often his weapons, food supplies, door locks and everything else he could possibly undergo inspection. And when he’s done checking his own possessions he’ll move onto checking everyone else’s too. He’s caring but tends to be a bit paranoid, which unfortunately results in him also being a tad over-protective, usually more so with the females.
Another side of him is that Oliver is a very smooth talker and a flatterer, good with both children and women. Some would say he’s even a flirt and with good reason – he seems to have at least one girl waiting for him wherever he goes. That’s not a too well-known fact but even if his lovers were aware it’s not certain they would mind because Oliver always manages to make the people around him feel special. He’s friendly and charming, easy to approach and always up for adventure. He can generally behave but he’s not unlikely to cause trouble for someone if it’s going to make his friends laugh.
Biography:
Not much is known about Oliver’s past. What he has reluctantly admitted was that it hadn’t been an overly happy one.
He grew up as an orphan in a small village on the western borders of the Northern Province. In the scarcely populated area around the Rift life was hard and recourses - hard to get by. The only people able to make a living were skilled magic users and there was no place for children, let alone ones lacking the support of older and individuals. Surviving was no easy feat and Oliver had to learn to cling to it by whatever means possible. For the first few years he was offered food and shelter by the old couple who found him on their doorstep but by the time he turned three they were already unable to provide for him and chased him away. The child learned to live mostly off of fruits and the human leftovers the dogs didn’t get to before him. He wasn’t proud of it but knew himself to be too weak to even attempt going into the forests surrounding the village and look for food there.
By the age of six he had already come into possession of a small knife and mastered stealth and agility well enough to be able to snatch decent food... mostly from coops. And he got away with it, because naturally all the blame was cast on the countless foxes lurking around the village. Proud of himself Oliver started fantasizing about the bright future of the most skilled thief in the world, one people would know by the name of “Fox”. The good nutrition assured for him growing stronger by the day and with that his confidence and dreams grew as well. But so did his ego too.
It didn’t take long for him to become sloppy and make a mistake. One night he waited for everyone in a small household to fall asleep and snuck into the coop as he usually did. Something unusual was waiting for him in the small space - something he assumed to be a fox trap. Refusing to be as paranoid as he usually was, Oliver let himself giggle at the sight. He was unaware that exactly that night someone was standing guard inside the house.
Mimi, the daughter of the couple owning the coop, had tried her best to convince her father that there was something unusual about the forays and had finally decided to take matters in her own hands, overlooking the coop to see what her trap would catch. However staying up all night had proven difficult for the girl and she had dozed off… only to be awoken by a noise no animal could imitate. Giving in to the rage and desire to settle the matter once and for all, Mimi fired a single ill-controlled fireball before realizing the consequences on the dry hay.
The chaos that followed allowed the terrified Oliver to escape with only a minor burn, unlike many of the chicken who couldn’t get out in time. Behind him screams and yells followed, the results of which he saw the next day covering Mimi’s entire body. He had never wanted to harm a human and the broken nose and teeth of the girl stabbed knives of guilt in his heart. For a few days he silently observed her, witnessing the continuing beatings that felt like they left scars on his own body as well. He found himself weeping together with her, hidden in the shadows of the bushes and trees around her house. By the end of the week he realized things were never going to change for her. Her bruises never healed and he understood why – the couple were no Keepers and the chicken had been the only food source for the family he had now personally doomed to starvation. Mimi was now asked to roam the dangerous demon-filled forests for food at day and beaten up for his mistake at night.
Unable to stand the crushing guilt Oliver approached the weeping girl one night and offered her to run away with him. “I’m already skilled with the knife and you can use your fire. If you get me one of your father’s knives we can run away together and head for a bigger city where there’s plenty of food for everyone and people don’t have to live like animals.” She had agreed.
What happened next always seemed to cause too much pain to Oliver to talk about. What one would gather from his brief and broken words would paint the picture of two children trying to survive on a long journey they were unfit for. That the naïve 15 year old had once again overestimated himself and proven the weaker one in the party. That by the time they reached their goal Mimi had already used too much magic. One could assume by the way he speaks of her, that she was his first and only love. Or they could assume she was his biggest sin and only regret.
Ever since he reached the capital of the Northern Province he has tried his best to become of use to the Keepers. He even managed to tame a spirit but has been known to be extremely unwilling of utilizing its powers, to the point where none but a few higher-ups have seen him use it. He has improved his combat skills, however, and is said to be able to take on crusaders shall the need arise.
Extra:
- He startles easily when he’s deeply asleep and has the habit of looking over his shoulder in crowded places.
- He has tried entering the Lucciola he admires but due to his reluctance in using magic, has thus far been unable to.
- He sometimes has the tendency of talking too much or being overbearingly friendly.
