Xionist's Character -
Name: Marquis Seigstein
Alias: Marquis(This is all Marquis knows himself as)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Faction: The Keepers of Light. However, Marquis is classified as a wanderer with no current ties.
Appearance:
Marquis stands at a good height of five feet seven inches, and he weighs around 125lbs with a slim build. Traveling has burned away all his baby fat, and training with his master has allowed him to build up a small amount of muscle. His brown hair is long and unkempt from all his travelling. His facial features are somewhat sharp, yet are softened by his light grey eye colour that never ceases to attract attention from townsfolk. Because of this Marquis always goes around wearing a rather worn out traveling cloak and scarf, so that when he ever needs to go into a village he is able to hide his face with a hood and scarf.
Magic:
Marquis' master, Zuriel, walks up to the campfire and sits down upon a rotting log and folds his fingers together. Clearing his throat the man starts speaking in a gruff tone. "Heh, magic? If you want to know anything about our magic, It'd be best to ignore that boy for now. He's a terrible example of this power." Clearing his throat once more, Zuriel continued, "We control a very special kind of spirit, not one a kid like you would ever be able to handle." Zuriel smirked in amusement as he tended to the fire.
Shadow spirits are very shy creatures. They tend to avoid humans at all costs. However there is an exception. If a special kind of human were to come into the presence of a shadow spirit, a bond could be made. What makes this human special is that their soul is a reflection of the spirit's very being. When the bond is made. The human will lose his own shadow, and it will be replaced with the spirit itself. Unfortunately it is said that such humans do not appear often, extremely rarely at that. In much older times there used to be magical techniques that could be used to summon a shadow spirit and force a bond with said summoner. However the bond becomes unstable, and in the end the human will be possessed by a demon. Thus the magic to force such a bond has been sealed away, and hidden from human eyes.
Marquis' spirit takes the form of a little girl, presumably around the age of twelve years, when it is not already taking the form of Marquis' shadow. The spirit, named Sylvia, can communicate just like any other person. However only Marquis can hear her words, thus many times he will appear to be talking to himself in hushed tones when in reality he's really talking to Sylvia.
Personality:
"This kid? He's got the personality of a wet cloth! Hahaha!" Zuriel laughed as he glanced over at the boy sitting not too far from him. "Tch, he's also so quiet when ya' want him to speak. Really, there isn't much to say 'bout him. But I'll tell you what. He'll be somethin' great one o' these days."
Don't take Zuriel too seriously. While he's right about Marquis normally keeping his trap shut, he's wrong about the 'wet cloth' part. Marquis keeps to himself around other people, unless he's with Zuriel. Whenever Marquis is with Zuriel, he opens right up from his shell. He's playful and energetic. He listens to every word the old man says to him as if the man was telling him the truths of the world. Even though he knows he's not very skilled with his magic, Marquis is nothing but determined to show Zuriel that he can and will become a true master of the shadow arts.
Biography:
"What, now you wanna know what the kid's life was like? Piss off, ain't nothing you need to know. All I'm saying is this. I found the kid in some charred remains of some cottage out in some land that I ain't tellin' you about. Been keepin' him around since, and teaching him some survival skills while we move 'round place to place. Ain't got nowhere to go, don't ask why. Now bugger off."
Here we have an example of Zuriel being rather serious. What he had said was very true. Marquis' life starts with Zuriel finding him as an infant within the burnt out remains of what used to be a rather extravagant mansion. The cause of the disaster was unknown. Zuriel's true reasons for taking the boy are also unknown, and all he's ever told Marquis was "Well I couldn't just leave ya' there, eh? You'd be torn apart by wolves in no time."
Marquis spent the next nineteen years of his life with this man. Zuriel began teaching Marquis about the shadow arts when he turned the age of five. From then on Marquis began his path as a shadow arts master. Some days were spent sitting about a fire and talking about the spirits, and where they may or may not have originated from. Other days were spent training his body and mind. To control such a magic requires a fit body for energy, and a strong will. At the age of ten Marquis had bonded with a shadow spirit. Zuriel tried his best to hide his astonishment that day and merely commented "That spirit seem to really like you, Marquis. Don't waste it's efforts, and never treat yourself better than it." Zuriel was quite right in commenting on the spirit's affection towards Marquis. After the bond, Marquis and his spirit would spend many long nights talking with each other. He would tell the spirit about his many adventures with Zuriel, and the spirit would listen with happy heart and eager eyes.
Extra:
-If you were to follow Marquis' ancestry tree exactly. It would lead directly to the man whom ripped open a rift between humans and demons. Good thing there's no documents of such a connection, eh?

TaraNeko's Character -
Name: Castalia Carrol
Alias: Cheshire
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Faction: None
Appearance: Castalia or Cheshire as she prefers to be called is rather an average girl when you see her walk down the street. She’s got long brown hair that’s straight but always wind blow because she is constantly traveling and her eyes a mahogany brown. She’s slim in her build, not super strong but she is very agile. Her height is slightly below average as she stands at around five feet three inches.
Her clothing is always easy to move in and she commonly wears many layers as her wandering takes her to all different climates. Normally she’s seen in a short red tunic with a pair of black shorts and long red and black striped stockings which lead into her well worn black boots. She keeps a pair of black gloves on and when the weather is chillier she adds a red jacket over her tunic and opts for black pants instead of shorts. Her coat is thick and warm with long sleeves going over her hands and a hood lined with white fur she can pull on so that it obscures her face. Slung over her back is a black traveling bag and she always has a red ribbon tied in her hair.
Magic:
From a young age, Cheshire has been very familiar with magic. Specifically she’s always had talent and a preference for illusions. Her parents weren’t entirely sure where her talent came from and it always fascinated them.
Her illusions are almost always present around her, literally when you see her she seems to have a smoke like edge and this is because she used her powers too much in her younger years. As such, her mind is not all there and she tends to fall into a speech pattern of contradicting herself. However her mind is not far gone enough to render her useless.
Cheshire’s illusions are almost subtle, making reality bend and twist so that it almost seems as if she hasn’t cast an illusion at all. She’s not one for fighting but rather likes to confuse and disorient her opponent so she can leave. If her opponent breaks her illusion then she’ll cloak herself to disappear. However…if the illusion has been going on too long and Cheshire becomes aware her sanity is slipping, she will stop and run. She’s very good at running.
Personality:
Many masks hide Cheshire’s personality because she isn't quite sure of it herself. She’s detached but friendly most of the time. You almost don’t know if you can trust her or not. Her generally aloof nature and wandering habit are close to the mentality of a cat. You don’t own them no matter how hard you try and they can be really friendly one minute and clawing your arm the next. Cheshire has been prone to rapid mood swings; they were more severe back during the time after she rarely left her illusions.
She has never been loyal to anyone but herself and those who have offered her a great kindness such as taking her into their care when her sanity slips a little too much and not telling anyone about it. Or anyone who has sheltered her when she’s really needed it. Those are people Cheshire is loyal too.
Her slight lack of sanity is most commonly shown through her ever present grin. She always smiles no matter the situation, the smile may be small but it’s there and grows bigger the more excited she gets.
Biography:
Cheshire has always been…a drift. Her parents, like her, hold no true allegiances except to those they consider worthy. They've always thought being part of a group a troubling web that would only cause them grief.
Her parents worked odd jobs, both her mother and father being jacks of all trades. Whatever they did they completed and always were payed well for it. Even if some of the jobs were a little less tasteful, her parents would always bring her along to certain points of the mission.
However, troubled brewed when Cheshire started to use her magic more freely and with thought. Her talent with illusions led to people trying to use her and her magic in a way that Cheshire didn't want to. This trouble grew and grew until it exploded resulting in Cheshire’s separation from her family and then later witnessing of their deaths.
To cope with this, she did as her parents always had. She wandered, however to chase away her nightmares she constructed an illusion around her and lived in it. The prolonged use of her magic caused her to pass out often but when she awoke she would start it up again. Cheshire became lost in her own illusion and it began to eat at her mind.
This cycle of passing out, creating an illusion and passing out once more went on for a period of a little over a few weeks or so causing enough damage to the ten year old that she ultimately sat down and just watched her illusions flash by, unable to tell they were no longer reality. It was in this state she was found by a young hatter and his wife. They took the child inside and spent several days trying to quell her insanity by forcing her to stop using her magic. Then they went on a long quest to return Cheshire to a more level state.
The wife, being an illusionist herself helped Cheshire control more of her powers, to reestablish reality. That being done, she warned Cheshire to be careful about using her magic as she went back more to wandering. It was a struggle and Cheshire still deals with it now.
Extra:
Cheshire likes the smell of incense and loves to sample tea.Cheshire is also enjoys cats, they are her favorite animals.

Naiko's Character -
Name: Xavier Yanev
Alias: N/A
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Faction: Factionless
Magic: Xavier lacks any kind of magic. For a period of time he attempted to take up the skills used by mage-hunters but, unable to understand the ethics behind it and find a teacher, he was never able to learn. He was also too old to properly master what close combat skills he did manage to learn in his travels and has since decided to search for other means of helping his sister. What Xavier lacks in magic he makes up for in his skill with archery and a sword while his hand to hand combat is mediocre at best.
Personality: Serious in comparison to his sister, Xavier is laid back the most when he is among friends or on his own. Around his sister he switches from coming of as concerned and trying to cheer her up. He is not very good with humor though. His motives are usually sincere and he is not a quick learner but what he does learn he seldom forgets. Protective and at times a bit defensive Xavier feels a sense of responsibility to keep everyone around him safe. He also doesn’t frighten easily and can usually keep a cool head under pressure, someone has to afterall.
To others Xavier is pretty relaxed when his troubles aren’t a topic. He usually wears a shy kind of smile that people find reassuring. Even if Xavier struggles with finding the right words to say at times he does a good job of protecting those around him and distracting them from their worries, usually by saying something profound that might take their mind off of things. It may not be as effective as humor but helps all the same.
Biography: See Cherise’s biography.
Xavier‘s past is not very different from his sisters although he remembers the time spent in the North better than she does because of the age difference. He grew up a little more lax on what his parents taught him because they were often busy with his sister. Despite the draw of attention away from him he found spending time with his little sister very rewarding, to the point where when their parents got busy researching he would do everything just to see her smile and not cry. He struggled to take after his father and read the same books she did but in the end he spent more time at the neighbors learning archery and swordsmanship. His parents, although both magi, encouraged him to do his best so that he could “always protect his little sister”.
He was closest to Freyr between himself and his sister as she would often wander back to the house to see what their parents were doing. When Freyr left Xavier looked forward to the day he would see his friend again but it didn’t come for a number of years. With the death of his parents he took charge and made arrangements for his sister back in their parent’s homeland. At age 16 he set off to travel and find a way to protect his sister from her ongoing struggles. He has considered many methods but fears how long he has before the memories she has gathered are no longer separable from her own.
Extra:
-He has tried to convince his sister to stop using the tome’s magic but it has proved useless.
-He actually has no blood relation to his sister. Their parents adopted him before they considered having a second child.
-Often you’ll find Xavier in mercantile parts of towns admiring swords, as of late this has been a bit troublesome though because he picked up a small metal devouring creature when he was in the west.
-Xavier thinks that the throne is really uncomfortable and chooses to have nothing to do with it if possible.

LuckyEsper's Character -
Name: Skye Valtreion
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Faction: None
Magic:
Skye doesn't really have a style to adhere to-- his attacks could be considered the results of various street fights and self-learned defense lessons. Sometimes he even calls it "Skye-kwon-do" or whatever name that fits.
His true genius lies in the “background” works; for example, reconnaissance and infiltration. His speed makes it easy for him to scout the surroundings, unlock doors and disarm a handful of traps (the more complex ones will take some time), but don't get him in the way when the enemy horde is coming. However, his uncontested forte lies within the field of strategy—once given a few minutes to assess the battlefield and shape it to his whim, rest be assured that the enemies will be put at a serious disadvantage.
Personality:
Many a person made the common mistake of calling Skye an airhead. As a child he showed no exceptional attachment to the written script nor the arts, in fact often throwing away books after a passing glance on the cover, which often led people to believe that his brain couldn’t cope. Between minutes of sleep and hard work in the store, the prospect of learning was abruptly dropped after he made absolutely no progress whatsoever. However, the enthusiasm that he lacked for education flowed into his daily actions, making the young child a vivacious and interesting conversationalist. People could tell that he was born with charisma enough to coax a budding flower into full bloom. To see whether this trait was a prelude to something that could hopefully be productive, one of his uncles assigned him to look after the family business for a single day. Customers flocked to the place after hearing of the “cute little tyke”, at first just to see whether Skye could be fooled into giving them products at a lower price, but later finding themselves with more produce than they can possibly eat in a month when they left. Nobody was surprised when he soon took over the enterprise.
Those who were determined enough to get close to Skye were shocked at what they learned. He was in no way a dullard. Learned in the arts and sciences, well-versed in mythology and literature, handwriting that rivaled that of a noble’s, and familiar in some questionable methods such as lock picking, everyone he once knew asked how he came to know such matters, doubt and astonishment clear in their voices. In fact, when questioned about how he had a fervent hatred of books, Skye will fondly recall throwing away the scrolls or tomes merely to see how people would react. He always does things at his own pace, and studying was no exception.
One could call Skye “unattached” in terms of relationship. He is perfectly convivial and capable of discussing various topics with amazing ease, but if you got through the sparkling wit you’d realize that neither of you ever talked about anything personal. It doesn’t help that he can switch personas from being totally sincere to a complete ice statue in mere seconds. One might even call him untrustworthy because of this mercurial temperament.
Biography:
Skye was born to an extremely volatile family. His three uncles were all wealthy merchants, and due to some reason that always differed each and every time someone asked, they never got along because of their respective loyalty to dissimilar factions. The only time the trio ever reunited when Skye’s mother gave birth to the child—But then they started arguing again over who got to hold the infant first.
He was taken on trips around the continent even though he was barely able to walk. The young boy watched as his Uncle Matthias and Unca Jeremiah, staunch ally of the Dragonkin and the Keepers, respectively, passed along some of their wares to support a cause and then, in another time and place, listen quietly as ‘ncle Timmons, avid fan of the Templars, berated his “addled” brothers for their stupid love for magic and all its lesser forms.
In the end, he paid no more attention to their squabbling and focused on enjoying whatever it was that came his way—and due to Skye’s love for the unexplored, it was lots and lots of trouble. When he wasn’t busy studying, he was running all over the city, hellbent on seeking out every single secret that the streets had to offer. There was even a time when, as a preadolescent, he found himself inside a brothel—But instead of running out at once, he proceeded to chat with all of the women in there, asking questions about their job and making them laugh with the anecdotes that came with his inquiries.
When he learned enough fighting skills to be able to protect himself from ruffians, Skye set out on a journey to find out about everything the world had to offer, and has been traveling ever since save for a brief stop in some cities. He usually drops by in the stores owned by his uncles to manage the wares and personally conduct a sales pitch.
Extra:
- Skye usually keeps his reservations to himself, but he can get a bit grouchy and hasty whenever he is in a cold place. This is probably because of his love of heat—More than one person has seen his love for steam-inducing spices and bouts of fire.
-His trademark color is dark green.
